Sheriff's Office issues warning of potential scams

Post Date:04/09/2025 11:42 AM

The Doña Ana County Sheriff's Office is warning members of the public of potential online or over-the-phone scams. One prevalent scam involves telephone calls from an individual claiming to be a deputy, warning people of "outstanding warrants." DASO would like to clarify that deputies do not contact individuals regarding outstanding warrants over the phone.

If you receive a call of this nature, contact DASO at 575-525-1911 to confirm the call did not originate from a deputy.

In addition, DASO encourages community members to ignore any solicitations from scammers regarding payment requests through gift cards, Zelle, Bitcoin or other unconventional methods.

Residents are reminded to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local authorities.
